Tuesday 10th= I missed Jamie's IT session as I had a meeting with my learning support worker, in a couple of weeks we have a catch up day so I shall catch up on todays session then. After lunch we had a session with Sarah, she showed us a powerpoint and put us in groups for a topical debate on eco-friendly fashion that we are going to have after christmas. I am in the "for" panel, I think it is going to get quite heated as there are some big voices in the group! It shall certainly be interesting.
Wednesday 11th= Finished my fashion logo for my design label with some images that I copyed in Illustrator and some information on the "collection" I had made. I finished quite early as I had done most of it last lesson so i got copying images from the internet, I'm getting quite good at it now!
Thursday 12th= Pattern cutting was ok today, we did about buttons which I really enjpyed because I LOVE buttons! I have a MASSIVE collection of them, alot of them I only have the one of as I find them wherever I go, especially at work they are everywhere! We also did facings and interfacings, I really enjoyed doing this is found it really easy and understood what I had to do straight away, unlike everyone else, they all seemed to struggle, it made me very happy that I understood what we were doing for once!

Tuesday 3rd = I made my first proper flat drawing of a t-shirt today in Jamie's class, my first attempt wasn't very good, nor was my second or third. After a bit of practise I got the hang of it and started enjoying myself. Now we are doing fashion based computer things I am liking the sessions a whole lot more that before. I'm still not all that confident with it, but a bit more practise and I'm sure I'll bee fine!
Wednesday 4th= We made a fashion logo and label today for when we are proper fashion designers, it was quite exciting thinking that in the not to distant future we will be qualified fashion designers! Kind of scary to think about but really exciting at the same time. I am really pleased with my design and think it looks quite good!
Thursday 5th= We were shown how to put the sleeves on our bodices today, I found it ok actually, although I did have a few difficulties to start wth, I got there in the end and didn't have quite as much unpicking to do as some people! We were only told to sew one sleeve today as we are going to do the other tomorrow. In the afternoon we were shown how to make certain types of seams, i am going to need ALOT of practise with the square seam for this to be perfect! I can't get it round my head how you do it! I have done it a few times and keep getting the same bit wrong, although I am sure I am doing it how we were told. I need to get someone to help me.
Friday 6th= It was a catch up day on the sewing machines today which was good as this meant I got to finish my bodice. This took me nearly allday on/off as I kept getting little things wrong and had to keep unpicking it. I got to the point were I didn't think I would ever got it finished! I finally did at 4pm and was SO pleased with myself, it felt like a real achievment. throughout the day i made alot of the seams again that are in my folder. I made them look alot neater than my first attempts at them. I was hoping to get Caroline to help me with the square seam from yesturday but I didn't get to that stage as it took me so long to complete my bodice.
Monday 9th= We were given the new brief for our design project which is melting pot. I am really looking forward to it as I love looking to other cultures for inspiration. For this project I am looking into different religions and there wedding ceremonies and dresses. I am going to design a wedding dress for one of them, but I havent made up my mind yet what religion to use.

Thursday 29th= We were shown how to move darts in a pattern in pattern cutting. We did so many different samples of lots of different darts and we were given homework! It felt like I was at school again hehe. I think I get the jist of moving darts but I'm not that confident yet, I'm hoping that after I have completed the homework I will be understand more about how to move darts and where to move them too. After lunch we made patterns for a waisted bodice we made it into four patterns instead of two. I didnt get it all finished but have been told we will have time to finish it tomorrow.
Friday 30th= Second day of pattern cutting, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We made the template for an A-Line skirt that we are going to be making in construction next week. We were also shown how to make a circle skirt. I am going to make one in my size so that I have a better understanding of the making of one as we are not making these in construction. We finished all of our work for today early so we finished yesturdays work and did the homework, all I have left to do for the homework is cut out my patterns and put them in the correct envelope in my folder.
Monday 2nd= We went fabric sourcing in London which was really good. The stores were rather small, hot and clostraphobic for my liking but the fabrics they had were amazing! I got lots of samples and some ideas on what I want to do for my melting pot project that we start next week. We were being picked up by the V&A and I was hoping to visit it before we left but I didnt have time, we spent too long having a hot chocolate in a cafe off of Oxford Street! I am going to go up at christmas to see the exhibition that is on there, I might do abit of christmas shopping whilst im there aswell!

Tuesday 27th= We played on adobe illustrator with Jamie it was all very similar to what we do with Steve, he was just seeing what we know and don't know on it. I think we knew most things he was asking of us. We made the card signs for a pack of cards which was quite fun. After we had finished them we didn't have that long left until the end of the session so we just played around on illustrator and looked at fashion flat drawings in "Animal"s magazine.
Wednesday 28th= More adobe illustrator today but this time its with Steve. We made a clock and then I made a t-shirt and trousers. I found it quite fun designing (very basic) clothes on the computer. I hope we can do this every week now. :)

Wednesday 21st= Used Adobe Illustrator and played around with drawing with shapes and using text. I drew a cloud with rain, a sun, a flower and the start of the night sky, I got a lovely deep blue for the sky and didnt have time to add in the stars. i enjoyed today, I think now that I know more of what I am doing I am finding it more enjoyable.
Thursday 22nd= Started construction of my bodice that I drew the template I did in pattern cutting the other week. After a few sewing machine difficulties I made the top and the sleeves, next lesson we are going to sew the sleeves to the body. I really enjoyed today, it properly felt like I was making something to do with fashion, it is quite exciting!
Friday 23rd= Had my last private study day for 5 weeks, that means I am not going to have another day off the 5 whole weeks as I work all weekend. I did sketchbook work for my black and white project that we are completing on monday. I liked today, I was in my own little world listening to my music and just working, I worked for hours and didn't even notice the time. I did 7 pages, looking at different architectural buildings and drawings from them, and I also looked at Keith Haring and Bridget Riley, I really like both of their work, I have looked a Haring's work before on a previous project and found his work exciting, I jumped at the chance to look at him again.
Monday 26th= We were meant to complete our black and white project today but I couldnt make up my mind what I wanted to do for my final piece. I made samples allday and showed them in the presentation. I am going to document evertything in my sketch book and then make my final piece in my own time. I spoke to Sarah about it and she said it was fine to do that, she had been watching me work and saw that I had been have difficulties at times whilst weaving the cuffs of my samples. At the end of the day she went through my sketchbook with me and gave hints and ideas on what I can do to finish the project. She seemed pleased with what I had done. In the presentation I got to see everyone elses work, they all looked so good! Some were better than others but thta is to be expected with peoples abilities and specialities.
Tuesday 20th October= We update our blogs in PPRD with Jamie and checked Blackboard for the powerpoint and handouts that Sarah showed us. I did the questionnaire that Sarah requested but I didnt understand all of the questions. It is directed more at people who have already done their degree. I shall do it again in 3 years and see how my answers have changed.

Black and White Project
Monday 19th= We officially started our black and white project today. we were given a powerpoint on ideas that Sarah our tutor had on the theme, it was really interesting I took notes on some of the artists and designers that she put in it. After the presentation I decided to go to the library and do research into the notes that I had made. I did that all morning on a computer and had different ideas and influences from other artists and designers form my initial research. After lunch I had the second half of my library induction which showed me the different magazines and websites that I can use to help my studies. I went back to class after the induction and was told that I could carry on with my research if I wanted, as I hadnt finished it I too this opertunity. I looked through lots of books of different artists and designers that I had thought would be useful in my research on the computer. Not all of them were what I was hoping for but I took out 5 books that I think will be able to help me on my project. I have been thinking all day what I am going to make and what body part I shall make it for, I have decided that I am going to make a cuff for a sleeve. After uni I went into Poole and bought a shirt that I think will go well with the design I have in my head. as the week progresses and I design my cuff, make it, develop it etc, the shirt might not fit into the project, time will tell but I am not going to make my project work around the shirt.

Sleep is the best healer
Wednesday 14th= Why do we have to use computers? We were using adobe illustrater to, I had even less of an idea than what I did yesturday on photoshop. I think what you can do on the programmes is quite cool, but it's going to take ALOT of practise for me to be any good at it and to actually do what I want it to do. I am going to look into getting the software for my laptop so that I can practise practise practise!
Thursday 15th= I am ill today and have decided it would be better if I didn't go into uni as i havent got very much energy. My brother is off school ill aswell so there must be something in the air that we have both got. I have slept alot today, I was going to do some research for my black and white project but can not look at the computer screen, I have such a bad headache and the lights are making it worse. my medication is sleep, I have always been told sleep is the best healer, so here goes for a big dose of the stuff.
Friday 16th= I feel better today although still have a cough and sore throat and am remarkably tired for how much sleep I have had over the last few days! It is a private study day so I am not in uni, I am doing lots of research for the black and white project, I have done all I can until I put the work together on monday and see how everything fits together, after that I shall probably have more research to do!

Punk Moodboards
Monday 12th October= We made our mood boards today from the research we did over the last week. I really dont feel well and have had no inspiration, I am going to remake it at a later date when I feel better. I had everything I needed to create my amazing punk mood board, it just wasnt happening. Im off home to sleep... zzz
Tuesday 13th October= Made a punk mood board in photoshop and had no idea what I was doing. I was copying what we were shown to do but it just wouldnt work. In the end I worked out what to do and after changing my mind on what I was going to do I am now happy with it. Although it has taken me so long it is not finished. I hope to get it finished next week.

This weeks summary
Monday 5th October: Showed our holiday projects, they were all really good, I think they liked mine but will find out next week when we get tutorial feedback. We were given a research brief for a mood board, I am going to mine on punk I haven't done a project on anything like this before so I think I shall enjoy it.
Tuesday 6th October: Had IT with Jamie, sorted out balckboard, our emails and our blogs. Didnt really enjoy it, I dont like using computers :(
Wednesday 7th October: Private study day, researched Punk got lots of research done in the library.
Thusday 8th October: Learnt how to make different types of straight seams on the industrial sewing machines yesturday , they are so much simpler than the machines I have used before! I really liked making the seams, I did some better than others though haha. I had made some of them before so I knew what I was doing but others were a new experience for me. It was a really long day and we where taught so many diffferent things, it was alot to take on board. I think i remember most of it, time will tell...
Friday 9th October: Today we were pattern cutting a bodice. I have cut patterns before and absolutly hated it so wasnt looking forward to it, but once we got going and I got into it I started to enjoy it more, maybe I have just had bad experiences before. Next week we are going to make the bodice which I am really looking forward to doing.
